The National Auctioneers Foundation plans an online fund-raising auction, “Friends of Auctions 2011,” for a second year, and this one will have a bigger scope than the one before.
Chairman of the online auction Mike Jones, CAI, GPPA, of United Country Auction Services, says the NAF Board of Trustees hopes to raise significantly more money than last year, which was the first time for an online auction benefiting the Foundation and National Auctioneers Association.
In order to make this year’s auction successful, the NAF Board is looking for donations from all NAA members. From Nov. 1 through Dec. 15, the NAF plans to ask members to donate items.
Jones says his hope is Auctioneers will donate 20 to 30 items, with five to 10 of those items being worth $3,000 to $10,000.
Unlike last year’s online benefit auction, the NAF plans to ask NAA members to market the sale to their respective business’ client lists. Jones says the purpose of this is to allow the general public, as well as NAA Auctioneers, to bid on items.
Jones says pre-bidding for the online auction will be available before the sale, which is scheduled for Jan. 15-31.
